I need to explain some history.

About twenty years of it, so I’m going to do it microwave style.

In 2005 I started building a world online called Wanted Hero.

I couldn’t get my dream job with Marvel, DC, or Image comics, so I decided to build my own idea online. For the record, it was my 86 year old father’s idea. He said,

“There’s this thing called ‘the internet’. Some folks say it’s just a fad, but I don’t think it is. You could tell your stories to the world, son. Consider it.”

You already know the choice I made.

Many told me I couldn’t do it. Even more mocked me.
I proved them all wrong.

Twenty years, one world, through comics and novels and games, growing a family of fifteen...and a ‘few’ disasters.

I’ve written about those elsewhere.

Somewhere in those years, I stopped guessing.
I’d love to tell myself it’s because I got smart.
Uhhh, no.

The absolute truth is, I never wanted to teach writing. To ANY degree.

Don’t look at me like that, I’m serious.

In fact, I STILL don’t want to teach…I want to write and create.

My children, and readers, and even other writers wanted to know how I was doing what I was doing…

WHY didn’t I ever suffer from ‘writers’s block’?
HOW was I cranking out so many stories and ideas (long before an AI showed up)?
WHAT was I doing to seamlessly interconnect these addictive ideas?

So I reversed engineered what I was doing by habit, so others could do the same.

That’s it. That was my whole plan.

Just share, NOT TEACH.

When I sent my formed idea to my friend, David Farland, he said, “You have to write this, Jaime. Your generation of writers needs this.”

So I wrote a book about it, published it, and went back to writing.

Sigh.
