Making Lists

Making Lists

Not being an organized person by nature, I have a hard time keeping track of things once I get ‘in the groove’ of writing or doing web work. I love to work. Obsessed with it. So how do I keep track?

Lists.

Massive, frequent, continual, ever-changing lists.

Here’s an example. I’m working on the official formation of our family publishing company, named in honor of my late mother. Through it, we wanted to do all of the Wanted Hero books and works, both physical and digital publishing (Nook, Kindle, iBook, Smashwords, etc.).

My office is an explosion of work, and so I decided it was high time I got focused and create a work schedule to complete the projects at hand. So here’s the list of project I’m currently working on.

  • WANTED:HERO Chronicles
    • Prelude to a Hero
    • No Experience Necessary
  • The Adventures of Chuck & Dax
    • The Origin of Dax (not the final title)
  • Chucks Interactive Cookbook (not actual title)
  • BLOODSTICKS- A History and Players Guide
  • The NETHINIM:
    • Brothers of Blood
  • Höbin Luckyfellers Field Guide to Wanted Hero

That’s quite a set of projects and until I created this list, I have been working in a sea of papers, notes and sketches over my desk and walls. Yet now I know for a fact that I’m insane. At the same time, I’m very excited to see so many projects being developed. The next set of lists have the projects broken down into their manageable bites.

The last set has the work schedule for myself and for the work that Kathilynn and I do together.

So if you find yourself confused, overwhelmed or bogged down, do yourself a favor and create a list of what you’re actually doing and get some simple, fast clarity to work with. You’ll breathe easier and regain your focus.

God Bless.

What Crazy Clips Have You Caught?

I love talking with my little children, especially Simon.  In fact, most people we know love talking with our 3 year old, because it’s always a treat, it’s always off the wall and unexpected and it’s always funny.

Truth be known, I have wanted to start making movies of Simon for work, mainly because he’s so fun to watch and every day he begs to go to work with me.  Maybe I can film him and eventually get paid for making people laugh…

The question is: what great child event/situation/humorous saying have you captured on film for yourself?

If you haven’t taken the opportunity, consider it!

Balance

Kathi says I don’t have ‘balance’ in my life.  That I’m too focused on whatever I’m doing at the time, especially (and specifically) work.

balance |ˈbaləns|

noun
1 an even distribution of weight enabling someone or something to remain upright and steady
balance 3
: slipping in the mud but keeping their balance | she lost her balance before falling.
• stability of one’s mind or feelings : the way to some kind of peace and personal balance.
• Sailing the ability of a boat to stay on course without adjustment of the rudder.
2 a condition in which different elements are equal or in the correct proportions : overseas investments can add balance to an investment portfolio | [in sing. ] try to keep a balance between work and relaxation.
• Art harmony of design and proportion.
• [in sing. ] the relative volume of various sources of sound : the balance of the voices is good.

Yup.  I’m screwed.

Fresh New Slate

January 2010.

I made a lot of mistakes and bad choices in 2009. Especially when it came to the development of the web sites I had. So much baggage to get rid of, with the tendency of a pack rat. Not a good combo.

So I decided to do a web version of a weight loss program and simply start over and only focus on what mattered to me online. My personal blog here at JaimeBuckley.com and WantedHero.com. Took me a few sleepless nights to come to that decision, but it feels really good.

So in between trying to keep a roof over the Buckley Family, I’m going to dig in my heels and get some serious work accomplished!

WooHAW!
