Point of View

My thoughts on issues where I try to be principle grounded, but there are times when the heart gets in the way.

You Have To Keep Going…No Matter What.

Posted by on Jan 31, 2012 in Point of View | 0 comments

I’ve wanted to make a post for a long time, but writing all day, every day–both for putting food on the table and for Wanted Hero, it’s easy to get burned out. I just didn’t know what to say.

In the end, all I could think of is: be real. Don’ try to say something…just say something.

Ok, here goes. Life is kicking the snot out of me. Most days it’s a challenge to find my way  into the land of Wanted Hero. Oh I get up at 4am most mornings and write for hours, don’t get me wrong, but my heart wants to move there, live there, write there with every breath…but the harder I try, the harder life attacks me.

Why Do I Have To Answer The Phone?

Posted by on Aug 5, 2011 in Point of View | 2 comments

When I tuned on my cell phone this morning, something very common happened: I had voice mails…telling me I was wrong not to have answered their calls.

Now, I have a habit:  as soon as I start working I turn off my phone. I give the house phone to the children or Kathi and ignore everything until I’m done working. I take a break at 1pm to let my mind rest–sometimes to answer emails, sketch, or maybe make a phone call…but only if I feel its critical. Anything else I leave until my work is done.

So my mind pondered as I listened to the voices of annoyed people…declaring how essential it was for me to realize how important their time was.

…but what about my time?

Do I harass people when they don’t answer my calls?   Nope. ...and it doesn’t matter who they are. I simply believe they’re busy and have a very good reason for not answering…and I’ll most likely learn WHY they didn’t answer my call when they DO get back to me. So what would possess a person to believe they have a right to interrupt my time?  They certainly don’t know what I’m doing at any given moment…yet they demand my attention. What’s worse is–they demand I make them my priority.

Seems a bit pompous to me. In fact, I would label that flat out asinine, wouldn’t you?

Just because the phone rings, doesn’t mean I’m honor bound to answer it. So next time you call me, know that I love you and I will get back to you…but once my personal organized list brings your name to the top.

…we now return you to your regularly scheduled program…

Hunger Games ticked me off…

The Hunger Games (The Hunger Games, #1)The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Just finished this book and I was very impressed. It took me almost 4 days to get through to chapter 5 until it grabbed me and didn’t let go. I don’t know why, but I kept taking nibbles of it, like the food Katniss rations out in the Games.

Not quite sure if I wanted to commit to the adventure.

I have not felt such hatred in many years from a book. It was unsettling, but there’s no other way to describe my feelings of the government in this world. The very presence of the games and how they are used had me hoping mad and disgusted without measure.

The pacing is incredible, the timing is near perfect and the characters are unforgettable. Looking forward to getting my hands on the next book.

…and hopefully the downfall of the government.

IT’S NOT FUNNY!

IT’S NOT FUNNY!

The self-serving in Washington HAS TO STOP–and WE THE PEOPLE are the ONLY ones who CAN stop it!!!
I got this email this morning from my beloved Uncle Bob, (retired Army) and it got my blood boiling.

Sending it off to 20 people is NOT enough, when it’s something this important.

The following email is uncut.

I challenge you to read this and NOT have the will to pass it on to your 20…

No one has been able to explain to me why young men and women serve in the U.S. Military for 20 years,
risking their lives protecting freedom, and only get 50% of their pay. While
Politicians hold their political
positions in the safe confines of the capital, protected by these same men and women,
and receive full pay retirement after serving one term. It just does not make any sense.

Monday on Fox news they learned that the staffers of Congress family members are exempt from having
to pay back student loans. This will get national attention if other news networks will broadcast it.
When you add this to the below, just where will all of it stop?

35 States file lawsuit against the Federal Government

Governors of 35 states have filed suit against the Federal Government for imposing unlawful burdens upon them.
It only takes 38 (of the 50) States to convene a Constitutional Convention.

This will take less than thirty seconds to read. If you agree, please pass it on.

This is an idea that we should address.

For too long we have been too complacent about the workings of Congress. Many citizens had no idea that
members of Congress could retire with the same pay after only one term, that they specifically exempted
themselves from many of the laws they have passed (such as being exempt from any fear of prosecution
for sexual harassment) while ordinary citizens must live under those laws. The latest is to exempt themselves
from the Healthcare Reform… in all of its forms. Somehow, that doesn’t seem logical. We do not have an elite
that is above the law. I truly don’t care if they are Democrat, Republican, Independent or whatever.
The self-serving must stop.

If each person that receives this will forward it on to 20 people, in three days, most people in The United States
of America will have the message.. This is one proposal that really should be passed around.

Proposed 28th Amendment to the United States Constitution: “Congress shall make no law that applies to the
citizens of the United States that does not apply equally to the Senators and/or Representatives; and, Congress
shall make no law that applies to the Senators and/or Representatives that does not apply equally to the citizens
of the United States ..”

You are one of my 20+

If you feel as I feel–that the leaders of this country have taken advantage of their positions to further their own personal agenda’s at the price of the American people, then get this message to others. Show them this article, tweet it, Facebook it and let’s use the media to put the pressure on those who claim to serve the people!

Ditched the fancy WordPress Themes?

Posted by on May 26, 2011 in Point of View | 0 comments

For years I have built websites for other people, for companies and for myself. I have been obsessed over the look and feel of the sites I work on, spending hours on end trying to get it ‘just right’. All the while, I missed the real value of why I started blogging in the first place:

The message.

So I can’t say I will stop looking for a better theme–however, I can say that my focus right now is on delivering the messages in my mind and heart. It’s the content I’m searching for more than anything. Simplify, simplify, simplify.

WANTED:HERO has all my time and all of my attention, so why clutter up the day with worrying about what the blog looks like too?
