- Jaime was born in Oakland California and grew up having deep experiences with violence, on the receiving end. These extensive experiences helped him develop a very unique outlook on life as well as considerable compassion for youth and their potential.
- When he saw Kathilynn Tupai, it was literal love at first sight (not for both of them). Within two weeks they were engaged, after knocking incessantly on the Tupai’s front door asking to see the girl of his dreams, and then offering 9 cows and a hamburger for her hand in marriage. Kathi’s father said yes, after he stopped laughing. Kathi professed her love to her future husband on their first date. Kathi is his dream girl and best friend, while Kathi may have needed a stronger prescription for glasses, but was already married by the time she got around to it.
- Jaime and Kathi have 11 children: Cesilea, Evan, Leilani, Jessica, Nathan, Asia, Jami Taylor, Ethany, Simon, Carley & Wynnie. There are rumors he wanted to start his own country. These rumors have not been confirmed, but they have yet to be denied. What Jaime does admit is his best friends were born to him as his children.
- The most common word used to describe him by family and friends is passionate. Executives have frequently prefaced Jaime’s talks with an explanation: “Jaime Buckley isn’t mad at anyone, he’s just passionate. So if he shouts a lot, it’s just because he cares.” It sounds like a good excuse, so Jaime let’s it ride.
- Kids and youth are the center of his life and motivation in most things he does, from his story telling to his teaching classes on a variety of subjects. He looks at society as being naturally detrimental to the family structure and the strong development of a child. He takes special interest in encouraging youth and parents alike in working on goals, dreams and developing a good productive life.
- Wanted Hero is his personal life’s work. A compilation of thoughts, feelings and life’s experiences in story form that Jaime would tell to his own children. Over time, the stories grew, expanded and took on a life of its own. Many nights are still spent talking about the worlds, societies and characters of Wanted Hero in detail.
- Jaime is self-labeled a dyslexic storyteller. Writing his stories is a painful, confusing process which takes the assistance of his wife to translate his ideas and verbal adventures into a readable form. Kathi took on the challenge of assisting Jaime with his stories as a way to get a closer look into her husbands mind and better understand how he thinks (his process). It has become a bonding experience for both of them, though Kathi has had to increase her migraine medication after each session.
- Jaime always answers his own emails. It may take longer than he would like, but it has been a point of pride and courtesy to write to those who take the time to write him.
- Jaime’s favorite foods are Sushi and Greek. His favorite past time is to relax with the phone off the hook, a good movie with his family about him, home made popcorn with ‘flavacol‘ topping on it…greek olives, extra sharp cheddar cheese and a hot loaf of french bread to munch on. That and a 2 liter bottle of Pepsi if Kathi will let him.
- His greatest dream is to have a small farm with cows, chickens, sheep and a large garden out back, where he can work the land with his children as he writes his complete Wanted Hero series.
